Welcome to Lavender’s world of gemstones, beads and charms, a haven for jewelry supplies. In her years of jewelry making, she has sourced and collected lots of beads and charms from all over the world. She has also received a lot of queries about how and where to purchase them. Given that many of her gemstones, beads and charms are rare and vintage, they are her precious babies (besides her 2 real babies). Hence, she has hesitated selling any of her beads and charms.  Also, the most important reason for not selling her stash of precious jewelry supplies is the fear of piracy and copycats -unscrupulous jewelry crafters who would reproduce her designs using her beads and charms.

However, as Lavender has accumulated a lot of gemstones, beads and charms, they really should be used and not be kept just because of the above reasons or because she can be too busy to use all of them.

Buyers of her charms and beads should abide by the Beaders’ Ethics (given below) and refrain from using her jewelry supplies to copy/reproduce her copyrighted jewelry designs, in part or whole, especially if you are also a jewelry crafter and seller. This, she hopes, will be established based on trust and friendship she wants to establish with her beads and charms buyers.

1. It is unethical to copy an artist’s work to sell
without the artist’s permission.

2. It is unethical to copy any work that has
appeared in a magazine, book, or website and
represent it in any venue as an original design.

3. It is unethical to teach a beading project that
has appeared in a magazine, book, or website
without the artist’s permission.

4. It is unethical to teach a beading project
learned in another teacher’s class without the
teacher’s permission.
